This fixed-term position is available immediately for 8 months.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to work on the joint University of Adelaide – CSIRO AquaWatch Pilot Project: Aquaculture in Spencer Gulf, South Australia. The successful applicant will be based with the Aquatic Remote sensing Team, CSIRO Oceans and Atmosphere at Black Mountain, Canberra, ACT.

In this role you will work to set up a pilot DataCube for the integration of earth observation (EO) satellite and in-situ data, implement atmospheric correction and ocean colour algorithms, and evaluate the relationships between EO and in-situ data. This is an opportunity to work at the forefront of marine remote sensing with large spatial and temporal data sets from a range of sources.

To be successful you will need:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in Computer Science, Remote Sensing or a related discipline
  • Strong computational skills (particularly Python programming)
  • Experience in handling image data, ideally with high dimensionality (either temporal or spectral)
  • High quality interpersonal, oral and written communication skills to work effectively as a member of the team and for preparation of reports or publications
